An artistic examination of found photography and orphaned photographs.
Six artists unfold found photographs through photo books and other objects.
The group behind ‘Box. Unbox’ has collaborated since the ‘page-turner’-workshop led by paula roush during Photobook Week Aarhus 2020.
Bodil Sohn shows a zine: "15 portrætter i det grønne" / "15 Portraits in the Green". 32 pages. Format: 13 x 13 cm. Inkjet print. Color.
Unboxing the contents of an old cardboard box: 20 exposed fragile glass plates/negatives with barely legible photos, all portraits in outdoor scenery. 702 grams of physical and enigmatic existence. Now transformed into a zine. The digitally developed images reveal long-forgotten moments of life. A position, an attitude, a smile, a gust of wind, flowers, shadows – all preserved on the glass plates in zones of light and darkness. Transparency of time.
The zine "15 portraits in the green" is complemented at the exhibition by a large picture, also from the cardboard box. It shows a woman looking at flowers in a garden. Composed of many prints as a collage with 'cracks' and 'breaks' in the image it is referring to 'gaps' in memory over time.
